A Target tshirt turned into what?

Recently on pinterest I saw an adorable shirt from an Etsy shop.

I knew it was something I could do, so I tried my hand at it.

I grabbed my supplies and headed outside so I didn’t inhale too many of the bleach fumes.

The shirt was an $8 one from Target.  I cut the bird out with my Cricut machine.  I bought one of those really thick, hard plastic spray bottles from the travel section in Target too.  Afterwards, I was worried about the bleach eating the plastic, but two weeks later it’s still holding strong.

I laid the cutout on the shirt and started spraying away.

I kept going for quite awhile.  Until it looked like this:

I probably could’ve stopped much sooner and got the look I was really looking for (more spotty like the first image), but I thought that the spots that you see in the image were going to give that to me.  As soon as I got it to a point that I liked, I ran it inside and rinsed it well.  I set it outside in the shade to dry it a bit before washing.
I washed it alone just to make sure no bleach transferred to any other clothes.  And here’s what it looked like on:

It’s not perfect, but for my first try, I say I did pretty well!  And for less than $10, I’d say it was worth the risk!

  1. I love it! Thanks for the idea!

  2. love it!! I might have to try it 🙂

  3. I saw this on pintrest as well. I am going to try it but with a clorox pen and a stencil.
