Continuing to learn

Earlier this week, I sat down with my little notebook (that has housed things since graduate school) and wrote up a plan to continue my creativity and photography skills after class ends on Monday.

I also spent some time (part for class, part for a shoot I hope to do later this spring) compiling inspiration boards of shots I want to try.  I’m hoping that by having a plan and goal for each day (or week, depending on how much time I have) I can continue to grow and see improvement.

Parts of these assignments I’ve written down (like the one you see above) were for photography class. This one was my day in photos, which ended up like this:

The one I have written down next is “mood”, which is another assignment for class.  This one has been hard for me, because I don’t want to just add mood through editing, but capture it a bit in my SOOC shot.

For those photographers, or other artists for that matter, out there, is there anything you do to keep your creative juices flowing?

I’m also hoping this will help:

It’s my new f/1.8 – 50mm lens.  My only complaint is that it’s a little noisy, but for the price ($125), I couldn’t beat it.  I’ve taken a few shots messing around and love the potential.  Plus I’ve seen what others can do with this lens, so I’m excited to see what I can do with it (cue Stuart from MadTV).

Oh – updates to the guest bedroom are coming soon!  Last wekeend, I made curtains and upholstered the head- and footboards (just need to stain and attach the legs).  Our duvet came in yesterday, and it looks so fantastic in there!  I can’t wait to share that makeover with you once it’s complete! (And, right now, at a price tag of only $200!)
