How am I going to lose that weight?

So back in January I went on the Scarsdale Diet to try to lose those pesky holiday pounds.  I was probably at my heaviest ever, cellulite everywhere and just really unhappy with how I looked.  Not to mention I felt awful – lethargic and just like a blob.  So I went on it and struggled, but lost 6.7 pounds in two weeks.  The cellulite in my belly was gone and I felt a little better.

Interestingly enough, the battery in our bathroom scale went out sometime last month and we hadn’t had the time to run to the store to get new ones (well, it was either that or my sub-consious not wanting to see what those numbers said).  So on Wednesday, S and I ended up at Walgreens and I remembered batteries.  We get home, I put them in and step on.  I almost started crying.  I told myself it was because I had just eaten dinner (and, a pasta dinner at that!) and it would all be fine in the morning.  Needless to say, it really wasn’t, and I got upset that I had replaced those stupid batteries.

I guess what hit me the hardest was this… a couple of weeks ago, after doing some research, I bought the Reebox EasyTone shoes.  They have motivated me to walk more than I ever have since I broke my leg in Summer of  ’07.  I’ve walked between my building and S’s (2.4 miles, give or take a .1 or so) twice, walked the trail, walked downtown, and I walk quickly at that!  I noticed my butt cellulite start to melt away, and I was confident that I was losing some weight.  If I have been, I can’t imagine what I weighed when the batteries were dead and I wasn’t walking.

So, it put a little fire under my butt to get going on my “Get to 120 and maintain it” goal.  Not to mention the fact that I’m going to Boca Raton in July, and I’m going to be in a bathing suit near my gorgeous sister-in-law.  Right now, I’m an embarrassment (at least, in my opinion), so I have to get on it.  I have 47 days to get happy with how I look.  So I might not make it to 120 by then, but I sure hope my arms, stomach and butt are more toned.

How am I going to do this?  Well, first, I’m going to create a playlist of 30 minutes.  Then, I’m going to have to workout for that 30 mintues every day.  There’s a gym downstairs that I can go to during my lunch break and set the treadmill so it’s not a run, but not a leisurely walk either.  I can also go outside, walk down to S’s work or around the park outside here.  ANYTHING other than sitting on my butt.  Also, continue with my situps and pushups (up to 15, by the way!!!)  Maybe a goal of 30 by then is reasonable.  But I’ll push it as far as I can.

So I sat down this morning and created my first workout playlist.  It’s mostly current stuff, since I didn’t have much time this morning to get it all together.  Here goes:
1. Brick By Boring Brick – Paramore 4:14
2. Cowboy Casanova – Carrie Underwood 3:57
3. Nothin’ On You – B.o.B Ft. Bruno Mars4:30
4. The Fixer – Pearl Jam 2:58
5. Imma Be – Black Eyed Peas 4:17
6. Carry Out –Timbaland Ft. Justin Timberlake 3:52
7. Uprising – Muse 5:05
8. Hot N Cold – Katy Perry
Total time: 32.4 minutes.

Oh – not to mention I’m going to start snacking on better things, like fruits and veggies.  I don’t really snack much, but when I do, it’s usually bad.  And, limiting myself to one sweets a week will be good too.

  1. You’ll have to let me know how those shoes do. I’ve thought about getting some of those since my main work out activity is walking.

  2. Way to go Jess for being so dedicated! I know how you feel. I lost 25 pounds before I had Hailey, and now I want to get the weight back off. It is unbelievable how much better I feel when I am eating healthy and natural foods. I have more energy, and it makes me actually feel skinnier. If you need meal suggestions or workout plan, sparkpeople.com is a pretty good site, and it is all free.

  3. I’ve never heard of those shoes before, and they sound really intriguing!

Weight loss seems so tricky, and I know I’m having my battles (debating about blogging about it also). Definitely looking forward to seeing how your results go, I always like to pick up tips as I go.

One fun tip I’ve learned that helps my flexibility: stretch during your morning (or night) bathroom routine. I have this whole stretching routine I do for just drying my hair! And I feel so much more limber for doing it :). Good luck!

  4. Good luck on the work outs! I recently started my 101 list too. It’s so exciting! =) If you are trying to lose weight, you might enjoy some of the classes available, such as Zumba or Cardio Kick Boxing. You work hard, but it’s worth the results! =)
